About Ben

How I Got Here

My name is Ben and I am an integrative therapist and hypnotherapist registered at the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). I am currently undergoing further training towards becoming an accredited integrative psychotherapist through the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).

But you already knew that!

My adult life swooped me through a couple of stops before I found myself training to be a therapist.

I originally studied to be an engineer at the University of Southampton, and then later discovered that it really was not what I wanted to do while I found myself in the middle of my first placement during my graduate scheme.

Cue an existential crisis!

I then enrolled in a secondary school mathematics teacher programme at the same university and enjoyed a few years of classroom teaching before taking up a post in middle leadership. At this point I became a bit disillusioned with the profession, and that, with the onset of COVID-19, led to some challenging times, time off work, and some time in front of the drawing board.

I was curious when I saw an advert for hypnotherapy training with the National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy (NCHP), which is where I received my qualification, and I haven’t looked back since.

During the time that I was training, I sought therapy myself, and through it, I learnt a lot about myself, re-evaluated certain aspects of my being, and found it to be a worthwhile experience that I wish to provide to others, too.
